Breckenridge, Colorado is a beautiful and very popular mountain city located in the Rocky Mountains about an hour and a half away from the capital of Denver. This city is widely renowned as a premier skiing and snowboarding destination. That is not all Breckenridge has to offer, however. There are so many things to do, see, and taste here and we’d love to share a few of our favorites with you!
What to do
Skiing and snowboarding are a lot of fun and are enjoyed by countless people who visit Breckenridge every year just for that. However, there are many other outdoor activities here that are often overlooked. In the warmer months, visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and whitewater rafting in the nearby mountains and rivers. The area also has numerous scenic trails that showcase the beautiful alpine landscapes. In addition to outdoor activities, the city often hosts a variety of festivals and events throughout the year. Given the rich history of the mountain town, Breckenridge also gives visitors the opportunity to explore the history by attending walking tours, or by visiting museums and historical sites.
What to see
Beyond the amazing views of the Coloradan scenery, there are many amazing things to see in Breckenridge as well. Take a stroll along Main Street, the heart of Breckenridge. This historic street is lined with colorful Victorian-era buildings and is home to numerous shops, restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques. It’s a great place to soak in the charming atmosphere of the town. Drive along Boreas Pass Road, a historic mountain pass that offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, valleys, and forests. For the animal lovers; Breckenridge offers the opportunity to see animals that may not be common in many areas, such as elk, moose, foxes, and even mountain goats!

As for what to taste in Breckenridge, this is the perfect place to try new and unique flavors that may not be available in your area. The cuisine served by many restaurants in Breckenridge highlights the flavors of the Rocky Mountains. Look for dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients, such as elk, bison, trout, and Colorado lamb. These dishes often incorporate fresh herbs, seasonal produce, and regional flavors. One food to be sure to look out for while in Colorado is green chili, a savory and spicy chili that usually has meat like pork in it. It’s also worth the time to check out the area’s artisanal chocolates and locally roasted coffee! Breckenridge is also a great place for anyone who loves craft beer and distilled spirits. Visit one of the city’s distilleries or breweries to try out the locally crafted beverages.Â

Breckenridge welcomes foodies, animal lovers, beer aficionados, history buffs, and nature lovers alike. This town has a little something to pique anyone’s interest and is most definitely worth a visit. Keep in mind that different times of year offer many different perspectives and activities here, so try visiting a couple different times!
